Aug.09, Quick trip to Ohiopyle
I have always wanted to see Fallingwater, so, with Summer slipping through my grasp, I whipped up a quick trip to Ohiopyle, to see Fallingwater and take a river trip on the Youghiogheny.Fallingwater was lovely. The only disappointment to me was that the tour had the flavor of being mice herded through the maze that is the house, never taking too long in any one room. The photos don't show how crowded and packed with people the house is. (No photos allowed inside the house.)

In the afternoon and evening, we hung out in Ohiopyle. We stayed in a cute but overpriced little log cabin just outside the town.
The next morning we took 2 duckies -- inflatable kayaks -- down the middle Yough. It was a long seven miles -- the last few miles seemed extra long and tiring as we went across a series of rock ledges that wanted to catch us and keep us stuck. I had been worried about sunburn and heat, but it was gray and cold instead. But, overall, a great treat, and a bang-up way to end the summer. Bill headed back to Murray the following week.
