The Rest of 2010

I'm embarrassed to note that I never finished 2010, and here it is 2012.  I'm going to try to catch up with 2010 by paring it down to the bare minimum of photos. Brevity, however, was never my strong suit.  We'll see how it goes.

Early August: Fun tour of Natalie and Steve's solar house, plus pizza 'n beer.

Aug.2010 Newcomers Potluck at Ricky and Marco's (hmm, don't see any newcomers there, actually)

August 2010:  Had a terrific time camping with the UUCLers at Trout Pond Nat.Rec.Area in WV.  There was a whole 'nother adventure involving a stray, stinky bear-hound we tried to 'rescue', but fortunately, no photos exist to document that excitement. Or, so we hope.

Sept.: Lisa Collins at Leesburg First Night, then with Beyond Borders at Beans in the Belfry in Brunswick MD

A quick weekend in Pittsburgh to see Sophia, her parents and aunt

In early Oct. I flew to Kentucky for a long weekend. The bridge in the first image is the one that would be taken out by a ship in the wrong channel in January 2012.

Someone is keeping cats at the Theatre in the Park. They were hungry enough to be happy to eat our sandwiches.
Murray moved various old buildings, like the one room schoolhouse and the old train station, to the park area that is close to Bill's house.

We stopped for "Hazel Days" in Hazel, Ky.  The Confederate re-enactors threw me off.

The Murray Kentucky version of Jammers....

Wedding shower for Natasha. The photo is supposed to be William, not Obama.

My excellent employer takes a day each October to hold a bocce tournament -- how cool is that?

Elias, Michele, and Sophia visit Bis-nona (great-grandma in Italian)

Grace to Go:  we prepared hot meals for the Loudoun needy

Went down to the Jon Stewart Rally for Sanity with Joe, Gina & Julia. Good crowd, good vibes, good signs -- good times! Long tiring day, though.

We were asked to come to the Davis' party dressed as our favorite Beatles song (I dressed as When I'm 64: in addition to birthday greetings and a bottle of wine, I had a button that said "Ask me about my grandchildren, Vera, Chuck and Dave.") There were even two Sgt. Peppers. Can you figure out Brenda's costume? (calendar marked with the previous day circled)

Another wonderful evening with my UU Jammers friends:

Thanksgiving 2010:  I met Linda, Frank and Marie for dinner on Thanksgiving Eve. Then Shelby and  I drove to Murray for the long weekend. Looked a bit at houses for sale in Murray (nothing came of that).  Had a fine hike to Land Between the Lakes on a lovely November afternoon, crisp and golden. Sang with Nathanial.

Sophia's First Birthday Bash, Pgh.

My AH&T BenefitsBuddies

Party at McKnight's, with the traditional goofy gift exchange (no present-licking allowed)

Christmas 2010 in Purcellville

Christmas Eve at E&M's in Pittsburgh, with Michele's extended family and some of Sophia's cousins.

Christmas morning. Quite a mountain of presents, but Sophia was still young enough that the wrapping paper was the best part.

The day after Christmas, we had yet another Christmas event, this time at Great-grandma's house in Alexandria.

Elias & Meadow's old friend Emmy and her family were in town and we got to visit with them at Grandma's

The last photos of the year:  Shelby with her Christmas toy, Bill & Peg by the tree.
